Pillar 2

Small Business and Social Empowerment

Small Business and Social Empowerment

Tools. Skills. Opportunity for All.

Small Business and Social Empowerment is Sky Muasya’s plan to give people the tools, skills and support they need to improve their lives and build sustainable sources of income.

Sky Muasya believes that reducing unemployment is not only about creating jobs. It is also about helping people start businesses, grow existing enterprises and become financially independent.

This pillar focuses on empowering every segment of the community.

Youth Empowerment

Young people will receive practical skills, business support and access to opportunities that prepare them for employment and entrepreneurship.

Small Business Support

Small businesses will receive practical support to help them grow, create employment and strengthen the local economy.

Boda Boda Empowerment

Sky Muasya will support the formation of the Kathiani Boda Boda SACCO to promote motorcycle ownership, improve access to financing and protect riders from exploitative hire purchase arrangements.

Women Empowerment

Women groups will receive business tools, enterprise support and training to increase household incomes and promote financial independence.

Persons Living with Disabilities

Persons living with disabilities will be fully included in empowerment programmes through registration support, access to assistive devices and equal opportunities.

Elderly Support

The elderly will receive support to register and access Government cash transfer programmes, ensuring they receive the assistance they deserve with dignity.

This pillar is built on one simple belief:

When people are empowered, families prosper. When families prosper, Kathiani prospers.

The Real Challenge

  • Since the promulgation of the Kenya 2010 Constitution and the birth of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Act, 2015, almost no meaningful constituency resources have gone into structured social and economic empowerment in Kathiani.
  • Many groups continue struggling without tools, financing, training or opportunities.

A) Youth Empowerment

  • Commitment: create practical opportunities for youth, equip youth with tools and skills, and support business and digital opportunities.
  • How it will work: equip youth with tools, provide business startup support, expand digital opportunities, organize group empowerment programs, and provide skills and business training.
  • Why this matters: reduces unemployment, creates income opportunities, builds self reliance and connects youth to the modern economy.

  • How it will work: support creation of Kathiani Boda Boda SACCO, introduce SACCO based financing, establish boda boda sheds and stages, and support group financing for motorcycles.
  • The SACCO will become the umbrella for ownership and financing.
  • Why this matters: reduces exploitation from hire purchase, protects riders from losing motorcycles, builds stable income and strengthens the local economy.
  • Message: Organize. Finance. Own.

C) Women Empowerment

  • Commitment: support women owned businesses and create sustainable income opportunities.
  • Women will be supported with chips fryers, cookers, juice blenders, salon chairs, dryers and business tools.
  • Women groups and table banking initiatives will also be strengthened.
  • Why this matters: increases household income, strengthens families and promotes financial independence.
  • Message: When women rise, Kathiani rises.
